Rent to Own.
One of the major reasons Gabe and David started this business was so athletes could compare products before purchasing them. You wouldn't buy a stereo before you heard it's sound quality or buy a car before you drove it, would you? What makes a $2500 wheelset any different?
This is a Rent to Own program. There are so many kinds of wheels out there, and every one has it's own attributes. We strongly believe you should be rewarded for being an educated consumer. And so, the credit system as we have it exists.
The Credit System:
Rental fees are credited with 20% if you return the product. This includes if you want to purchase the same model of wheel, but still return the rental model we shipped you. 100% of the rental fee at the time of the rental is credited if you keep the rental model we send you. All rentals are accumulative, so every rental earns you credit towards a final purchase.
Members earn an additional 10% credit (total of 30%) credit on every rental. It adds up and its totally worth it if you're going to be renting more than twice from us (standard rentals) in a season with an eye towards a final purchase.
Rental credit with the Day Pass Program is slightly different in that:
- 100% of the Day Pass is credited towards the MSRP value of a new set of wheels
- OR 20% of the Day Pass is credited towards the purchase of our rental models.
Example: New Zipp 808 clinchers are $2485 MSRP value. A 5 Day Passof $200 would reduce the price of this to $2285.
Our used Zipp 808s go for about $1650 (depending on how many times they've been out). A 5 Day Pass of $200 would make your price $1610 for a set of wheels that have been out no more than 10 times.
Whats Not Included in the Credit System?
Shipping and Insurance are not included. You are credited for your rental price only.
You Do Not Have To Be A Member To Earn Credit.
You do not have to be a member to rent from Echappe Equipment, but it does help. Standard customers earn 20% of each rental price towards the final purchase. Rental periods are described on the Rental Programs page.
What Do Members Get?
Members who pay $30/month subscription get 40% of their rental towards a final purchase. The $40 Warranty option for new purchases is included, too. They also get preferential scheduling and are not limited to how far in advance they can schedule a product. For more information, visit the Membership Page.
